A narcissist is highly critical and demands his spouse’s complete attention. Plus that, he requires next to impossible perfection. Any perfect execution of his demands will never be good enough according to his standard. The narcissist explodes frequently at his mate and for no apparent reason at all. Narcissists carries a volcanic rage that erupts frequently and violently. The narcissist blames the spouse for everything that goes wrong, especially if it is his own fault.
Marriage to a narcissist promises that your life will be smothered by his or her grandiose ego and constant hunger for adulation, attention and admiration. Forget having room for your feelings, thoughts or your creative ideas. There will be no peace, no place to contemplate, even inside your own mind, which is always in motion with anticipation of the narcissist’s next recrimination or intimidation. There are moments when you know that you can no longer continue this type of charade.
Gratefully, a few interested callers who aptly filled the DSM IV’s requirements of this personality disorder were side-stepped, thanks to learned insight, interview skills plus immediate access to one of our local psych doc’s and his professional knowledge and helpful assistance.
