It never ceases to amaze me.
My sister had been ill, so I called to see how she was doing. My nephew answered the phone.
“Hello,” he whispered.
“Hi, Honey. How is your mother feeling?” I asked.
“She’s sleeping,” he whispered again.
“Did she go to the doctor?” I asked.
“Yes. She got some medicine,” he said softly.
“Well, don’t wake her, just tell her I called. By the way, what have you been doing today?”
Whispering almost inaudibly he answered, “Practicing my saxophone lessons.”
Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.
I knowthe drill. Take a deep breath to the count of 10 through my nose then exhale in equal time through my mouth. Repeat as necessary and often until calm again.
