Beware the Ides of March

by on Mar.15, 2011

March 15th was known to the Romans as the Ides of March – the day that Brutus and his accomplices assassinated Julius Caesar in the year 44 B.C.

In his play about the rise and fall of the Emperor, Shakespeare had the Soothsayer say to Caesar: “Beware the Ides of March!”

CAESAR: “Let me have men about me that are fat;michelangelo bruto brutus Beware the Ides of March
Sleek-headed men and such as sleep o’ nights:
Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look;
He thinks too much: such men are dangerous.”
