by on Aug.26, 2010

weightless She continues to live happily ever afterThe best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own.
No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame.
The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey -and you alone are responsible for the quality of it.
This is the day your life really begins.

No Sense, No Pain…..

by on Aug.24, 2010

The insidious thing with this is that I believe that I’ve met at least one or two who will actually do this as an attention getter instead of simply enhancing one’s personality.

I’m sure my thoughts about it will be considered, “lame & boring….”

So be it – Silly me

d 1 No Sense, No Pain.....

d 2. No Sense, No Pain.....

d 3 No Sense, No Pain.....

d 4 No Sense, No Pain.....

d 5 No Sense, No Pain.....

Excuse Me, Please

by on Aug.24, 2010

My computer, Gothmog, the Lord of the West, has been having connectivity issues recently and we’ve not been able to remain online for very long. Please excuse us both for not posting as regularly as we normally post.

To date, both the ethernet cable and the phone line have been replaced. A new dsl/phone splitter along with a new phone system have also been ordered. Hopefully both will arrive this week sometime. Until then, Dale, Roy, sing it!

Today’s Quotes

by on Aug.24, 2010

“Above all things, and upon all occasions, avoid speaking of yourself, if it be possible. Such is the natural pride and vanity of our hearts, that it perpetually breaks out, even in people of the best parts, in all the various modes and figures of the egotism.”

* * *
“If, therefore, you would avoid the accusation of pedantry on one hand, or the suspicion of ignorance on the other, abstain from learned ostentation. Speak the language of the company that you are in; speak it purely, and unlarded with any other. Never seem wiser, nor more learned, than the people you are with. Wear your learning, like your watch, in a private pocket: and do not pull it out and strike it; merely to show that you have one. If you are asked what o’clock it is, tell it; but do not proclaim it hourly and unasked, like the watchman.”

* both excerpts taken from Lord Chesterfield’s letters to his son.

Saying ‘so long’

by on Aug.24, 2010

Perhaps a person you thought as a friend is spreading gossip behind your back or isn’t ever around when you really need him or her. Whatever the reason, you realize that its an uhealthy relationship, and it’s time to end it and with healthy closure. So, what should you do when a friendship is over?

Bow out as gracefully as possible and then get on with life. And if your personality is an open one and anything at all like Will Rogers’ belief that he has “never met a stranger,” you’ll soon meet others who will appreciate you wholeheartedly and not take your friendship for granted.

Women Can Smell a Man’s Intentions

by on Aug.24, 2010

“It’s not hard to tell when a guy is “happy to see you.” The twinkle in his eye, his swagger, that sexy smile — all are clear signs he’s in the mood. And, at least subconsciously, a woman can also tell by the scent of his sweat, according to new research. Scientists have long debated whether humans, like animals, use chemical signals called pheromones to communicate sexual interest to potential mates. Problem is, the effects of pheromones are thought to be subconscious — meaning that if we do communicate using them, we sure don’t know it. It’s also hard to know what these pheromones might be and how we sense them, so researchers understand little about them. But if human pheromones are going to be anywhere, they’re going to be in sweat, right? Denise Chen, a psychologist at Rice University in Houston, and her colleagues devised an experiment to compare how women respond to different forms of male sweat — sweat produced in everyday situations versus that produced when a man is turned on.”

Pastor Robert Adams sought by police

by on Aug.23, 2010

RobertAdams1 Pastor Robert Adams sought by policePastor Robert Lee Adams of Mount Calvary Tabernacle is a fugitive from justice. The police issued an arrest warrant that alleges that Pastor Adams raped and molested a teen girl.  She’s pregnant.

We hope someone recognizes Mr. Adams and calls us so we can take him into custody,” Ramey said. “Obviously with these kinds of allegations and warrants outstanding, this is not someone we want to be loose in the community.”

Adams may be traveling in a 1970s-model orange pickup truck. People have reported seeing Adams locally in Forest City and out-of-state in Tennessee and Texas.

Anyone with information on Adams’ whereabouts is asked to call the Gaston County Police Department at 704-866-3320 or Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.

Mville quotes

stars Mville quotes

“By nature, we do not perceive ourselves or others accurately. We magnify the importance of ourselves and diminish that of others. In the beauty of a clear night, however, we look at the stars and feel ourselves small, unimportant, and at peace. On an objective scale, we sense our insignificance. Somehow the realization comforts us. The return of the illusion hurts us, takes our peace away, allows us to magnify slights, rejections, and humiliations as others challenge the illusion of our self-importance with theirs. It is in our human nature that this be so; it is our task to transcend it.”

You can’t expect to prevent negative feelings altogether. And you can’t expect to experience positive feelings all the time. The Law of Emotional Choice directs us to acknowledge our feelings but also to refuse to get stuck in the negative ones.”
