Ride On, Patriot Guard Riders

by Saboma on Feb.28, 2010

Watch this video See for yourself the inane belief of today’s modern Christian belief and practice. It is not much difference than the Salem Witch Trials.

Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes interview Shirley Phelps Roper, whose father is the idiot who organizes protests at funerals of soldiers. This is one of the few times that the conservative Hannity and liberal Colmes agree that Roper is an ungrateful nut who has no appreciation for the brave men and women in the military fighting for our country.

If you see a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, a group of motorcyclists and veterans that disrupts the anti-military protesters, thank them. And as always, support our troops. They’re the ones who sacrifice everything so that you and I can have freedom, even for those like Shirley Phelps Roper.

Think About Camping This Weekend

by Saboma on Feb.22, 2010

The Perseid meteor shower has begun. Although the display will not peak until August 12th and 13th, sky watchers are already counting as many as a dozen meteors per hour (including some nice fireballs) during the darkest hours before dawn. Rates could increase 5- to 10-fold when the shower reaches maximum on Sunday night and Monday morning. Advice: Get away from city lights. While many Perseids will be bright enough to see from light-polluted urban areas, the shower’s full grandeur is reserved for places with dark and starry skies.

"Sheep in human clothing – scientists reveal our flock mentality"

by Saboma on Feb.22, 2010

“Have you ever arrived somewhere and wondered how you got there? Scientists at the University of Leeds believe they may have found the answer, with research that shows that humans flock like sheep and birds, subconsciously following a minority of individuals.

Results from a study at the University of Leeds show that it takes a minority of just five per cent to influence a crowd’s direction – and that the other 95 per cent follow without realising it.”

Mumbai: Live Up to the Minute Information

by Saboma on Feb.22, 2010

Times of India: Mumbai: in one of the most violent terror attacks on indian soil, mumbai came under an unprecedented night attack as terrorists used heavy machine guns, including ak-47s, and grenades to strike at the city’s most high-profile targets — the hyper-busy CST (formerly VT) rail terminus; the landmark Taj Hotel at the gateway and the luxury Oberoi Trident at Nariman point; the domestic airport at Santa Cruz; the Cama and GT hospitals near CST; the Metro Adlabs Multiplex and Mazgaon dockyard — killing at least 80 and sending more than 900 to hospital, according to latest reports. ( Watch )

“Mumbai” is the correct pronounciation of “Bombay.” Moreover, it is India’s Financial Center.

[NYTimes reports:]
Coordinated terror attacks struck the heart of Mumbai, India’s commercial capital, Wednesday night, killing dozens in machine-gun and grenade assaults on at least two five-star hotels, the city’s largest train station, a movie theater and a hospital…

gunfire and explosions rang out well into the night, and hours after the assaults began parts of the landmark Taj Hotel, next to the iconic gateway of India, were in flames. Fire fighters worked to rescue guests from the windows of their rooms on the top floors. Fire also raged inside the posh Oberoi Hotel, according to police.

Several high-ranking law enforcement officials, including the chief of the anti-terror squad and a commissioner of police, were reported killed. The military was quickly called in to assist the police.

“What the modern structures of the World Trade Towers meant to New York, the heritage Taj Mahal means to Mumbai.”

**It looks like Hillary Clinton will be busy earning her title as the new US Secretary of State.

Yes I am, No I’m not, Yes I am, No I’m not

by Saboma on Feb.22, 2010

There are obviously two educations.
One should teach us how to make a living and the other how to live.
* James Truslow Adams

bi 11 300x237 Yes I am, No Im not, Yes I am, No Im not
Bi-polar Chair

In a more complete version of that quote, Adams says: “There are obviously two educations. One should teach us how to make a living and the other how to live. Surely these should never be confused in the mind of any man who has the slightest inkling of what culture is. For most of us it is essential that we should make a living…In the complications of modern life and with our increased accumulation of knowledge, it doubtless helps greatly to compress some years of experience into far fewer years by studying for a particular trace or profession in an institution; but that fact should not blind us to another–namely, that in so doing we are learning a trade or a profession, but are not getting a liberal education as human beings.”

And John Steinbeck claimed that, “Men do change, and change comes like a little wind that ruffles the curtains at dawn, and it comes like the stealthy perfume of wildflowers hidden in the grass.”

Stuff that in your pipe and smoke it.

Is Darwin Kosher? Did we come from monkeys?

by Saboma on Feb.22, 2010

creation+evidence+museum Is Darwin Kosher? Did we come from monkeys?

Ask The Zoo Rabbi

From the article:
“Man’s physical ancestry in the animal kingdom has no bearing on his unique spiritual nature. Whether our physical bodies originate from mud or monkey, our fundamental identity does not relate to either.”

The Zoo Rabbi’s first seven words ‘beg the question’ indicating a preconceived bias that man’s ancestry is in the animal kingdom.

Fords and Chevrolets are descended from man, but they are certainly not human. And yet, many of the same chemicals found in automobiles are the same as those found in humans. Automobiles just haven’t had enough time to adapt to the environmental niche that humans live in. But the environmental pressure is there, so it is just a matter of time. Replication could be a major hurdle. But if inanimate chemicals can overcome, then certainly the advanced prototype like a car can overcome. After all, they are all part of the same no-design package. So the car is like the little engine that could.

Bobby McFerrin with Yo-Yo Ma & Company

by Saboma on Feb.22, 2010

Bobby McFerrin (born New York City, March 11, 1950) is one of the natural wonders of the music world. A ten-time Grammy Award winner, he is one of the world’s best-known vocal innovators and improvisers, a world-renowned classical conductor, the creator of “Don’t Worry Be Happy”, one of the most popular songs of the late 20th century, and a passionate spokesman for music education. His recordings have sold over 20 million copies, and his collaborations including those with with Yo-Yo Ma, Chick Corea, the Vienna Philharmonic, and Herbie Hancock have established him as an ambassador of both the classical and jazz worlds.

With a four-octave range and a vast array of vocal techniques, McFerrin is no mere singer; he is music’s last true Renaissance man, a vocal explorer who has combined jazz, folk and a multitude of world music influences – choral, a cappella, and classical music – with his own ingredients. As a conductor, Bobby is able to convey his innate musicality in an entirely different context. He has worked with such orchestras as the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Vienna Philharmonic.

‘Unconventional’ is a good way to describe the career of Bobby McFerrin. Those familiar with McFerrin’s shows, whether as a conductor or a vocalist, know that each one is a unique event that resonates with the unexpected. He is that rare artist who has the ability to reach beyond musical genres and stereotypes for a sound that is entirely his own. As one of the foremost guardians of music’s rich heritage, he remains at the vanguard with his natural, beautiful and timeless music that transcends all borders and embraces all cultures.

“When I’m on stage by myself, I don’t have to think about anything. I don’t have to worry about anything because I’m not responsible for anything except just opening my mouth and making sure music comes out.”
*Bobby McFerrin
