Fresno County Elections Office is swamped

by on Oct.22, 2008

The Fresno County Elections Office is so swamped ahead of the Nov. 4 election that it likely won’t be able to get sample ballots and voter pamphlets out to residents who registered to vote close to Monday’s deadline.

Because of that, County Clerk Victor Salazar is advising residents who don’t have a sample ballot to seek it out online at www.co.fresno.ca.us/elections. In addition, voters can look up their polling place while online.

Two L.A. Deputies Accused of Beating Up Firefighter

October 22, 2008 – LOS ANGELES — Two L.A. County sheriff’s deputies are free on their own recognizance after pleading not guilty Tuesday to assaulting a firefighter while off duty.

Joshua Titel and Brian Richards, both 31, are accused of beating and kicking firefighter Stephen Paige at about 1 a.m. June 24, 2007, in Pomona. The pair were indicted Sept. 23, but the indictment remained under seal until Tuesday’s arraignment. (Special treatment?) Both deputies were released without bail pending a Nov. 10 bail-review hearing in Pomona Superior Court.

According to prosecutors, Paige required weeks of medical treatment following the beating before he returned to work. The fight took place outside a private residence in Pomona after some type of altercation between the deputies and the victim, authorities said.

It is not clear what triggered the alleged altercation. The deputies face up to 7 years in prison if convicted.

Conscientious influential leanings

by on Oct.21, 2008

“If we suspect that a man is lying, we should pretend to believe him; for then he becomes bold and assured, lies more vigorously, and is unmasked.”
*Arthur Schopenhauer

The narcissists I’ve known have apparently always been “that way” and they get worse as they get older, with dramatic regression of their personas after the deaths of their parents and other personal authority figures who have previously exerted some control over the narcissists’ bad behavior. And, yes, chronic depression gets to be obvious at least by their forties but may have always been present. Depressed narcissists blame the world, of course, and not themselves for their personal disappointments. Narcissists are threatened and enraged by trivial disagreements, mistakes, and misunderstandings, plus they have evil mouths and will say ANYTHING, so if you continue to live or work with narcissists, expect to have to clean up after them, expect to lose friends over them, expect big trouble sooner or later.

Secret Service now investigating "Kill Him" outburst

by on Oct.15, 2008

The “Kill Him!” threat heard at the Palin rally yesterday has the attention of the Secret Service.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.
*Abraham Lincoln
